Polemi
This is the largest of the villages in the area, with 830 locals and 10 non-Cypriot families living here. Polemi is situated in between Paphos and Polis, only 22km from Paphos and 20km from Polis. The village has a secondary school, three restaurants, three supermarkets, three coffee shops, two kiosks, banks, a flower shop, a butchers and a bakery – and also a small winery.
There are also a lot of churches in Polemi, the oldest one being Panagia Chryseleousa, which is a protected building that was built in the 13th or 14th century. For anyone interested in the history of the village, you must visit the Cultural Centre, which was built in the 1100’s and has been renovated using many ancient artefacts. This lovely village surrounded by vineyards, offers traditional village living with all the amenities of a small town. |
