Stroumbi
Stroumpi is another large village with a population of about 480, and is about 17kms from Paphos and 20kms from Polis. Stroumpi is a big wine making village and most locals are employed somewhere in the wine making industry. Stroumpi is divided into two parts, Pano and Kato (upper and lower). Pano Stroumpi is a very old settlement, maybe even going as far back as the medieval times; here you will see the ruins of two wineries and lots of traditional houses. The earthquakes of 1953 destroyed Pano Stroumpi, and so Kato Stroumpi was built to re-home the displaced locals. Lower Stroumpi is home to the Police and Fire Stations and the main square with the Church of the Holy Spirit. The infant and secondary schools are also situated in Kato Stroumpi. The village has three tavernas, two coffee shops and fantastic mountain and sea views. An ideal place for people wanting to experience real Cyprus village life. |
