Cyprus boasts an enviable year round climate, with long hot summers lasting from May until October, and mostly mild and sunny winters with some rain between December and February. Summer and winter are separated by very short Autumn and Spring seasons.
In the height of summer, temperatures can soar to over 40° in coastal areas with the temperature dropping in winter, sometimes to 10°.
The rainfall in Cyprus is below the Mediterranean average and although snow is rare in the coastal areas, it is normal for the Troodos Mountains to have snow during the winter months, when skiing is possible. Please be careful in the sun, especially between the hours of 11am and 3pm during June, July and August when it gets extremely hot. Always wear plenty of sun cream, sunglasses, a hat and make sure you drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. |
