Yeroskipou
Only 3km east of Paphos town you will find the traditional village of Yeroskipou. The name of this village comes from the Greek words ‘Hiero Skepos’ meaning the ‘sacred garden of Aphrodite’.
Yeroskipou village is famous for making Cypriot Delight or ‘Loukoumi’ as it is known locally, and is also home to one of the most beautiful and interesting churches in Cyprus. The five domed Byzantine church of Ayia Paraskevi dates back to the 10th century and can be found in the village square, and close by is the Folk Art Museum exhibiting traditional arts and crafts of the area. The village has all the amenities you could want, including banks, shops, tavernas, coffee shops, restaurants, supermarkets, florists, bakeries and of course ‘Loukoumi’ shops. |
